E 2.13: The Irish of Iorras Aithneach, County Galwayby Brian Ó Curnáin 4 voll. €200 ISBN 978 1 85500 204 3 Os cionn fiche bliain i gcomhar le cainteoirí as Iorras Aithneach, Condae na Gaillimhe, atá caite ar an ngraiméar seo. Rinneadh obair fhada fhairsing sa dúiche, rinneadh staidéar ar sheanchas foilsithe agus neamhfhoilsithe, ar thaifeadtaí idir shean agus úr, go háirithe na taifeadtaí atá i gcartlanna Roinn Bhéaloideas Éireann agus Raidió na Gaeltachta. Tugann na foinsí seo léargas ar éagsúlacht fhorleathan agus ar athrú trí na sé ghlúin a rugadh idir 1850 agus 2000. Is iomaí brainse den teangeolaíocht atá i gceist: an teangeolaíocht thuairisciúil agus stairiúil, an chanúineolaíocht agus an tsochtheangeolaíocht. This grammar is the fruit of over twenty years of collaboration with speakers from Iorras Aithneach, Co. Galway. It is based on extensive fieldwork, published and unpublished lore, and recent as well as older recordings, particularly those held in the archives of Roinn Bhéaloideas Éireann and Raidió na Gaeltachta. These sources provide a picture of extensive variation and change across the six generations born between 1850 and 2000. The grammar draws on several branches of linguistics: descriptive and historical linguistics, dialectology and sociolinguistics.
