20th cent. Paper. A collection of glossaries of various dimensions pasted on separate blank leaves and bound in rexine (33 × 21 cms) with `Sanasán Beag' gilt-lettered on spine. Ó Casaide ms 2.

(a)

Bifolium and single folio (17 × 11 cms) containing a glossary of msicellaneous words and phrases - some of Northern provenance - with English translation. Scribe unidentified.

(b)

Sixteen blue ruled folios (34 × 20.5 cms) containing a glossary A-U, written on recto only. Scribe unidentified. Beg. Aicillidheach. adj. handy. Ends Útmáluidhe (s.m.) an unskilful or untasty worker. Another hand, T.W., writing on the verso, has added other words to the glossary.

(c)

Single ruled leaf (16 × 18 cms) written on verso only. Scribe unidentified. Contains a couplet Is tir gan cleacht, gan reacht, gan féile and a list of words and phrases with English translation headed `Additional words'.

(d)

Four ruled leaves (20 × 15 cms) written by P[ádraig] Ua C[earmoda]. Contains glossary of words and phrases with English translation headed `Sanasán beag bailighthe le P. Ua C', followed (on last leaf) by 3 single stanzas headed `The following are a few verses I took down from different people ...': (i) `Comhairle do thug seanfhear d'fhear óg'. Annsacht mna go brágh na claoidheadh do chiall. (ii) `Freagra an fhir a bhi air thaobh na mna.' Na cáin na mna ┐ na bí go brágh gan chiall. (iii) Gearán bocaigh.' Is dealbh dubhach an Nodluig do bhi aig stolaraidhe dam shortso.

Two ruled leaves (30.5 × 18 cms) the second of which should be first. Scribe unidentified. Contains glossary A-U beg. Amlath, suffering from exposure to inclement weather. Followed by `Should I meet others as above, they shall be sent in due course'.
