Eachtra Chonaill Gulban

18th cent. Paper. 25 × 19 cms. Pp. 152. There is no subscriptio but the handwriting is that of Muiris Ó Gormáin (cf. G 19 supra). The ms. is bound in half-leather with gilt-lettered Conal Gulban on spine. The binder inserted three blank leaves after the front cover and three before the back cover. A former shelf-mark, AG MS. 82 (of Cooper MSS.), appears on the left top corner of front cover, and Phillipps MS. 6489 is written on the inside of front cover.

The following note in pencil appears on the verso of the third leaf: The Deeds of the Famous Connell. Conaill Gulban, or Connell the Renowned, was the son of Niall of the nine Hostages, who reigned in the years 164.- In one of Niall's expeditions to France St. Patrick, then but 16 years of age, was taken prisoner and kept for some time in Ireland as a slave. There is no scribal pagination.
