Cormac's Glossary (fragment)

19th cent. Parchment. 20.5 × 13.5 cms. Pp. [xii] + 10 + [98]. It has been ascertained from O'Reilly's catalogue (R.I.A. 23H1) that the scribe was William Haliday. O'Reilly says (23H1, p. 204): "There are only nine pages written on the rest are blank. The written pages contain the most part of the words beginning with the letter A from Cormac's Glossary. They were written by the late Wm. Haliday, author of the Irish Grammar published under the name of E.O.C. who" [i.e. Haliday] "intended to have written into this book an entire copy of the Glossary of Cormac."

The ms. is bound in calf with the title Sanas Cormaic in gilt on red panel on spine. O'Reilly's book-plate is pasted on the inside of the front cover. No. 120 in O'Reilly's cat.; Phillipps Ms. 10277.
