Eochairsgiath an Aifrinn; Trí Biorghaoithe an Bháis

18th cent. Paper. 19.5 × 15 cms. 462 pp. Scribe: Dábhith Ua Mohir, 1732, 1735. The manuscript is composite, comprising two formerly separate manuscripts with separate scribal pagination, the second manuscript begin the first written (1732), the first written 3 years later (1735). The scribal pagination of the first manuscript, 77-165, shows a loss at the beginning of 76 pages, while that the the second, 18-384, shows a loss of 12 pages at the beginning and several more at the end. A modern pencilled pagination, which is continuous throughout the volume, has been adopted for the present catalogue.

The following jottings occur in the manuscript: (a) `Beanoct De mar on', `Death (...) Hell and Heaven' and other scribblings (p. 90); (b) `Henry' (p. 273); (c) `Timothy Shanahan is my name' (p. 320); (d) `Tadhg Ó Comáin' (p. 346).

Bound in full rexine with `11596' labelled on spine; `Keetinge's Key Shield of the Mass', `A Moral Treatise on death called "Three pointed shafts of death"' and `Phillipps Ms 11596' inside front cover; `1032' (Rodd sale-cat.) on p. 3 upp. marg. The first leaf, which is now fragmentary, is pasted on the outer margin of page 3. Several words (not textual) on outer margins now partly cut due to cropping; there is considerable staining at the beginning and the end.
