Names and jottings in the manuscript include: `Thomas Kindlan' p. i; money account, pp. ii-iii; `I promise to pay unto the ...', p. iv; `out of 11 barrels four taken away / out of ten 5 sacks taken away', last blank page.

Bound in leather, now loose and badly worn; a leaf (now fragmentary) used in the binding of the front cover contains writing by the scribe on one side and `This to be delivered to Mr John Solly at Harmanst[own]' on the other. Purchased from Hodges Figgis & Co. in 1924.

This is a version of Seán Ó Neachtain's translation (TCD ms 1364) of La Vera Sapienza. The introduction in Ó Neachtain's copy is also acephalous beginning at a point corresponding to p. 5.6 of the present manuscript. Loss of a leaf following p. 22 and p. 72 (see introductory remarks) have caused lacunae in the text here.
