Bound in blue boards with `O'Reilly's Extracts from the Irish Annals' and `Mac Curtin's Address' in ink and `10274' labelled on spine; `245' labelled on recto of front cover; `Phillipps MS 10274' inside front cover and `No 274' in pencil on upper margins of ff. 1, 9, 13. Listed under `Ex bibl. Denley' in Phillipps's Catalogus. Purchased by the National Library for 10s. from Sotheby (lot 245) 29 June 1936.

The volume consists of the following three items: (a) ff. 1-7, scribe: Patrick O'Reilly. Extracts (in English) of Annals for the years 1520, 1521, 1585 headed `Translated from Irish MSS. Annals. By Patrick O'Reilly'. Extracts (in English) of Annals for the years 1520, 1521, 1585 headed `Translated from Irish MSS. Annals. By Patrick O'Reilly'. Beg. Nicholas son of Pierce O'Flanagan parson of Devinish was unjustly removed from his situation by lay power and died in a hut.

(b) ff. 9-17, scribe: Edward O'Reilly. A `Rough Draft' (ff. 9-11) followed (ff. 13-17) by a `Free translation' of the `Poetic Address of Andrew McCurtin an indigent Irish Bard to Donn, Chief of the Fairy mansion at Sand-Pits in the west of the County Clare. Translated from the original Irish by Edwd. O'Reilly'. All hail! Great Donn of Sand-Pits! powerful prince. 140 lines.

(c) ff. 19-23, scribe unidentified. (i) f. 19 `The Armorial annunciation of the princely House of O'Gorman. / Translated by T. O'Flangan.' The battle's front the rear from havock's field. 3 stt. (ii) f. 20 `A Literal Translation of Moilin Og Mc Brodin's Genealogical Poem, written in the reign of Queen Elizabeth for Donall Mac Gormain of Clochan in the west of the County of Clare. Moilin Og died December 31st 1602 the ablest antiquarian and poet of his day.' Strangers here are Cahir's race. 69 stt. numbered. `Finis.'
