19th cent. Paper. A notebook (22.5 × 18.5 cms) bound in boards containing (a) a copy by P. W. Joyce (`copy begun by me Nov. 9th 1866. P. W. Joyce. Duboin 1866') of Joseph O Longan's transcript of the tract on Críochadh an Chaoille (`This tract on the topography of the two Fermoys was copied from the book of Lismore, a Ms. of the 15th cent. by Joseph Long of Whitechurch near Cork to which he has added a translation and notes. / This work gives a detailed account of the boundaries of Fermoy, its chieftainries, the chieftains who held command over them, the septs who occupied each townland, their burial grounds and parish churches, and in some instances the priests or coarbs who officiated in these at the time this work was compiled. (b) end of manuscript, writing on recto only: (i) List of 18 place- names all beginning with A (in Joyce's hand); (ii) Glossary Irish-Latin not in alphabetical order but with page A-U with page reference for each word; several blank leaves follow each letter; (ii) and (iii) in an unidentified hand.
